I Love To Love You....Blogging Friends

We had a "SWEET" time during our V-Day!  Our day is filled with Hugs and Kisses.  First, we read the story, Kiss me, I'm Perfect, by Robert Muncsch.  Then we graphed which Hershey Candy we like better....HUGS or KISSES. 

Then the class was set up in 9 different KISSABLE centers.  The students recorded their work throughout the day in their special....Hearts and Kisses...booklet.

We ended the day making these A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E Kisses!  When I saw these on Julie Lee's Blog, I knew I had to make them.  You can find her sister's unit, Valentine Unit (1st-2nd grade), by clicking {right here}.  The students really enjoyed making these and writing about what they would not kiss!  The girls got bows and the boys got mustaches! 

I just had to share this one, too.  It just makes me SMILE!

Friendship Unit and Exciting News!!!

One of our favorite months to teach is February.  In the month of February, we teach two themes ~ Valentine and Friendship.  Right about this time of the year...our students always need a little reminder on how to be a good friend.  This unit is special to us because with all the expectations demanded of our little kiddos, ultimately we realize how important it is to have friends!  They make learning more engaging and fun!

Here are some pictures of our Friendship Unit...hope you like...much~much more is included in our unit that is not pictured!

The students will use a mirror to read the sight word or phrase that was text to them. 

If a student rolls a side with a girl and boy the friend they are working with at that center gets to pick the number.  

The students will search the room and write the words found.  Then he/she will read the sentence to the teacher.  (A true friend is a gift to keep.)  

As a group the students will brainstorm things for each category.   Write at least 3  in their friendship booklet.

Do you paint T-shirts for 100 Days? (Freebie, too!)

100 Days of school....this idea is so cool!  Mrs. Ramseier came up with the greatest idea that is so kid friendly...which makes the kiddos a little more independent...and THAT IS WHAT WE STRIVE FOR.....so we can drink our diet coke!  HA HA HA  work with other students one-on-one! 

 Go to your local Family Dollar or General Store and buy some cheap car mats.  Use an exacto knife to cut out 2 - 4 different designs.  Then the students have fun sponge painting their shirts! 

  

How cute it is!  School Specialty has some colorful Acrylic (Facbric) paint. 
We are 100 days brighter!  

Don't forget to add their name on the back!   The students love it!!! Yes...I know...all capital letters in their name!?!  Please forgive me!

100 Day Recording Sheet
On 100 Days of school, the students can choose where they would like to go and learn.  The centers are set up all day.  After they finish each area they mark it off with a little sticker!

Baby, it's Cold Outside...Great Time to read...The Mitten

What have we been doing this week!?!  Anything and everything that is related to the story, The Mitten.  Here are some quick pictures to share!    

I got this idea from www.kinderbykim.com website or should I say...Kindergals.....a couple of years ago.  My students love to read the story over and over during their academic free choice time!  

When I was in college this was one of the activities I made for our Reading Class.  I still use it every year and the students ask me all week....Can we retell the story again?!

We read the emergent reader, The Tale of The Mitten, by BZ Teacher together as a class.  If you would like a copy of the book click {here now} !  It is so cute, and she has 3 different versions for you to use in your classroom!

Today was my student teachers last day in our classroom.  She will be missed!  Here is the little goodie bag she gave each student.  On the back it said..."Owl" Miss You!

"Snow" Much Fun Building Sentences

My class LOVES sentence scrambles....and what a great idea to do it together as a class.

When LuAnn and I were presenting in Indy at the SDE I Teach K Conference we were able to sit in on a session presented by Linda Scheuer.  I could not wait to go back to my classroom and do with my kiddos.  They LOVED it!
