DOG GONE CUTE CENTERS & GIVEAWAY!

WE ARE EXCITED for the new year to start (Honestly...we are!) and to use these "CREATIVELY FUN" centers from Mrs. Lee!
CLICK HERE to go to her blog post and see more learning take place!
This is the poster we created to retell the story with the students.  The color pieces are held on with Velcro at the bottom and the students can move them onto the dog while we hear the story again.
In our classrooms, we like to have an "emergent reader" to go with the thematic centers.  We created this story so the students can practice his/her colors & color words.

Birthday Day of FUN!

As a class the students took turns pulling an item out of the birthday bag.
They would say the name of the item and then name the vowel sound heard.
Then we would write the word on the correct line.

I would blow a birthday blower.  The students would shout the number.  Then they would write that number and the next three numbers on the recording sheet.

First, I read "For My Birthday" to the class.  The book gives examples of items that I would like for my birthday and an item that I would not like for my birthday.
I would like a vacation.
I would like an iPad.
I would like a book.
But I would not like a dragon!
The last page says...Don't forget to eat cake!
As a class, we brainstormed more ideas of "what we would like" and "what we would not like" for our birthday.
The students each got a birthday hat with a rhyming word on it.  Then they had to walk around the room to find their rhyming partner.

When they found their partner, they locked arms.
As a class we reviewed all the rhyming words.

The students found a place in the classroom and tried to write 8 more words that rhymed.

We discussed if the word was a "real" or "silly" word.
The students had a POPPIN' good time making words.
First, they had to pop the balloon by sitting on it.
Then the students built a word with the letter tiles inside.

We shared our words with the class and recorded them on the worksheet.

You will find all these activities in our
"Happy Birthday To Me" unit.
Click RIGHT HERE to check out this unit in our TpT shop.
You and your students will have a BLAST learning together!

Reindeer Centers

Enjoy the HOLLY days with these "REINDEER" centers.

The students will measure the reindeer with "reindeer noses" and graph how many.
The students will build the reindeer sight words and write the word on the recording sheet.
The students will roll a die, pick a reindeer nose color, paper punch that many colored noses, glue them on the recording sheet, and then write the 5 partner to match.
The students will spin the spinner and write the ten-frame number on the recording sheet.
The students will walk around the room, read the word, and write the rhyming word that matches on the recording sheet.
The students will roll the cube, say the shape, and graph the shape rolled.  Continue until one shape reaches the top.
