New Year....New Blog!

Have you noticed our new super ~ fun ~ amazing blog design!?!
"Gabby's Classroom" designed our new look.
She was wonderful to work with!!!
Gabby is starting student teaching this year and has closed her design shop.  What!?!  We know!!!
But as creative as she is...we know that you will see her around again!
Gabby does have a new blog called "Instruct and Inspire".

Back in July we posted about our blog pictures being lost!

Really...we looked on our blog one day and ALL OF OUR PICTURES IN EVERY POST WERE GONE!
Read about it BY CLICKING HERE!
The blog post is funny...NOT that we lost all of our pictures!

We are VERY SORRY if you click on a post from the past and it looks like this...

It was our goal to get the pictures from our Google Drive back into our posts before school started.
Then September Life happened...
Then October Life happened...
Then November Life happened...
Then December Life happened...
And...we decided that it would be fun to get together over Holiday Break and MAKE TIME to get our blog pictures back.

Well...believe it or not our pictures are not in our Google Drive anymore.  I guess there is a time limit or something!

Sooo...this new year we have decided to share the posts AGAIN that were MEANINGFUL to us and our readers.  We apologize if you have seen this information before.  We feel that it would be USEFUL and ESSENTIAL to you!

We are looking forward to another GREAT year of collaborating, inspiring, and growing.  Thanks to all of you who are a part of "Our Blog Journey".

We are grateful...

Hand-made Holiday Ornaments

All I want for Christmas....is hand-made ornaments
from my child.  I just LOVE them!
The students had fun posing for our Holiday Photo Booth.
Sorry...I do not remember where I got the props from!
I BELIEVE....their favorite part of the activity was painting the wooden sticks!
They do not get to do this enough!  Bah Humbug!!!

The students had a "SNOWFLAKIN'" good time making these ornaments.
Let it snow....Let it snow....Let it snow....NO REALLY!!!
We live in Wisconsin and we still do not have any snow.

My son, Cayden, had to get into the fun too!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Reindeer Fun

To go along with our Reindeer Literacy and Math Centers in an earlier post, my kindergarten students enjoyed learning about reindeer this past week.  We read the nonfiction book, Reindeer(A Day in the Life:  Polar Animals) to learn some new information about this interesting mammal.  The kiddos are currently writing an informational book about reindeer, using facts that they learned after listening to me read the book.  I will share some of the pages of their books after they complete them.

To have a little fun with reindeer art, I used the ArtventurousBlog to guide our project.  We drew our reindeer step-by-step with crayons.  Then we used a blue watercolor wash to finish off our artwork.  I was amazed at how well the students were able to draw their reindeer.  Each picture was so unique and so darn cute!  Here are a few of our masterpieces…

Are they stinkin' cute or what?
I was pretty impressed with their kinder skills!

Reindeer Centers

Enjoy the HOLLY days with these "REINDEER" centers.

The students will measure the reindeer with "reindeer noses" and graph how many.
The students will build the reindeer sight words and write the word on the recording sheet.
The students will roll a die, pick a reindeer nose color, paper punch that many colored noses, glue them on the recording sheet, and then write the 5 partner to match.
The students will spin the spinner and write the ten-frame number on the recording sheet.
The students will walk around the room, read the word, and write the rhyming word that matches on the recording sheet.
The students will roll the cube, say the shape, and graph the shape rolled.  Continue until one shape reaches the top.

Scarecrow Stuffin"

This week Deedee Wills shared a fabulous resource from Differentiated Kindergarten Blog about sensory bins.  Scarecrows are too cute not to share what we are doing in our sensory table!

The students can stuff and un-stuff the scarecrow.  Then they get to label the scarecrow.  After all the fun, the students will label a scarecrow on a worksheet to take home.
