Let's party like were going extinct!

Did I get your attention!?!  In our classroom,  we are learning all about Dinosaurs.  I will admit...the students can say the names of the dinosaurs better than I can.  HE HE HE  We are having a roar~ing good time in our reading corner...check out all the rockin' stuff we can do there!

Love~Ya Words (lava words)  The students will look at the volcano for the words to search for...how fun, right!?!

My classroom aide (who is so wonderful and sweet to let my kiddos touch her rock collection) is sharing her rocks with the students.  She even has LAVA ROCKS!

I over heard one of my students saying....your my friendosaurus!  Why didn't I think of that...too cute?!?
Here is a FREEBIE of my Love-Ya Word Search.  ENJOY!

During our center time we are using Julie Lee's Dino-mite Unit.  If you click  {here...it is on sale!}  it should bring you to the Dino Unit in her TPT shop.  Here are a couple pictures of my favorite centers!

Long-Neck Lingo....silly or real words

Bronto's Before & After...The students will write what 2 letters come before and after the letter on the dino.  It surprises me how hard this is for some kiddos.

Stegosaurus Subtraction...the students will write how many dots on the dino/write it on the line, roll the dice/write it on the 2nd line, & subtract.  Love it!

I think you are DINO~MITE if you check out our Ocean Math and Literacy Unit...click  {right here} at our Teachers Notebook Shop.  What a great way to end the school year!  Thank you to all the wonderful people who have bought the unit and sent us such "SWEET" comments.  It means a lot to us!

Thanks for stopping by...don't forget to leave a "ROOOAAAAR!"

"My Work RoCkS!" BOX ~ Quality Work Incentive

Since this is my first year in Kindergarten, after 25 years in 5th grade, I was amazed to see that at times my kiddos would rush to get their work done.  I thought that was just a "fifth-grade" thing.  Kindergarteners actually know how to slack off now and then - already?  I was wracking my brain for a way to make my kindergarteners produce quality work each and every day ~ so it became a "habit" for them to be very proud of creating nice and neat work daily.

That's when I decided to use my new Twistable Crayola Crayons and Colored Pencils!  I created two NEW pencil boxes that contain a mechanical pencil, glue stick, eraser, scissors, and twistable crayons and colored pencils.  How do the kiddos get to USE these special boxes?  They have to earn it through producing NICE and NEAT work!  The "My Work Rocks!" BOX will be theirs to use for one day, along with a little award to take home and share with their parents.  I am guessing that their friends at the table will be "jealous" enough to try and earn the box for themselves.

I will let you know if it works!  I am hoping this new incentive will have my kiddos producing beautiful work - ready for their next step - FIRST GRADE!  What do you think?

Dive into our Ocean Units!

This is one of our favorite units of study.  It is great for any kindergarten classroom and it will add fun to any ocean theme!   Here is a collage and picture examples of our math and literacy Ocean Unit.  You will find much, much more when you download the unit at our Teacher Notebook shop.

TSW...read the clock and write the time shown to the hour.

TSW...recognize coins, count the amounts of coins, and graph coins.

TSW...match the pairs of flip flops with same addends.  Then write the addition problem on the page.

TSW....fix the sentence by writing it correctly in the space provided.

TSW...put the fish in order to make a word.  Then circle if it is a short or long vowel word.

TSW...say the picture and write the beginning and ending sound.

I "sea" you buying this unit and loving it.  Your students will have a sand`tastic time learning, too!

What are you "wading" for?  Click {here} to go to our Teachers Notebook Shop!

My students had so much fun dressing up like pirates last year.  ARRGGGHH!   I used a face paint crayon to draw on their faces.  Click  {right here} for a freebie of the pirate hat.

Thank you so much!
