Summer School Happenings

WOW!  I can't believe some teaching friends are starting school very soon and I still have 2 weeks of summer school left.  I wanted to SHARE kind of our fun summer school day.

We used this resource to bring us together for day.
CLICK HERE to see this resource in Deanna Jump's TpT Shop.
CLICK HERE to read more about this book.
THE BEST BOOK EVER to help teach phonological awareness in the classroom.
I would choose a worksheet each morning for the kiddos to complete as they entered the room each morning.
CLICK HERE to get your very own packet.
IT IS WORTH IT!

Each week we focused on a short vowel.  This was a great way to practice fluency with short vowel words!
You will want the whole bundle!!!

Each day we would read a book from "Reading A to Z",
I loved that the students could take the books home and read it to their families.

We also had "silent reading" time. The students worked hard on building stamina to impress our first grade teachers!

Each week the students would get a new writing folder and take it home on Friday.  I tried to make each day a fun new way to practice our writing.

The kiddos think it is so much fun!

CLICK HERE to find these "voice & expression cards" in Cara Carroll's "Rock Your Fluency" unit.  We used these all summer long to review our kindergarten sight words.

CLICK HERE because you will want to use this in your classroom.  Such a great resource for beginning readers and a great way to develop comprehension skills.
This comprehension worksheet is from Rowdy in Room 300.
The students had fun looking for the sight words in our reading and then drawing a picture to match what we read together.
CLICK HERE to check out her unit and her TpT shop.
Movement time for YouTube math videos.
Still one of THE BEST ways to learn!
