Now that we have caught your attention... we want you to know that we take the time to build our blog and teaching website to share ideas that are kid tested/teacher approved and build a lifelong LOVE of teaching kindergarten. Teaching kindergarten is a journey, and we are the lucky ones who get to teach the little ones to learn to read and feel successful!

Is there any way that I could get a copy of the punch card that I could personlize? This would be great for my nephew's 1st grade class.
Thanks

I love this idea! I always send all the words home and expect the parents to be practicing. This way they see if their child continues to come home with the same words they need to get to work. How do often do you assess the kids on the words and how long does it take?

I would love a copy of the punch card, if you wouldn't mind! What a great idea you have!!!
How do you make the cards? Print them out on cardstock?
Mrs. Magee....THANK YOU! Please keep coming back for more!
Laura...copy the cards onto card stock. It is more durable. Laminate (if you want). Use a small binder clip to clip into the folder flap inside their folder. If you use rainbow words, you could use different colored card stock for each set.
Annie...I try to assess the kids once a week. Some students will stay on a set for awhile and some students will move on pretty fast.
Mrs. Glennon's Beach Buddies, Laura, Anonymous, and other Rockstar teachers...if you e-mail us at 5krocksblog@gmail.com you will get a copy of the punch card and parent letter. Thanks for stopping!
It worked!!! Well, I am happy to announce that I assessed all of my kids today, and I had seven kids that knew all of their Star Words on card one. They were proudly chatting with their friends about how many star punches they earned. I am SO happy that they are as excited as I had hoped they would be! Yippee! Now I hope the enthusiasm continues when they get their next Star Card with new words. LuAnn
I love all the Name ideas! Where did you get the font for the playdoh names?
Thanks! foulkldf@pwcs.edu
