Reading Rainforest

The students are GOING WILD for this reading area!   Can't hang items from your ceiling...no problem...take it to their level.  They are having just as much fun reading in this rainforest. 
This picture was taken in Mrs. Ramseier's Kindergarten classroom.  I bet she will be making one in my room next.  What are teaching partners for...right!?!

Reading With A Buddy!

Partner Reading “Buddy Reading” makes reading fun!

“Reading Time” for struggling or reluctant readers can be a very frustrating experience in the classroom.  They will spend as little time reading as possible.  But with a “BUDDY” it can be more enjoyable!

 We have created 5 "Partner Reading" binders 
that the students can choose to read 
someplace special in the classroom.  

On these pages...we have highlighted the sentence for when it is the students turn to read.  This takes some of the anxiety out of "when is it my turn" and they can focus more on reading.

Musical Crayons....Oh What Fun!

Our theme in the classroom is FRIENDSHIP.   I read the story "The Crayon Box That Talked"  then we played a game of "musical crayons!" I gave each student a piece of paper and one crayon.  When the music played, they colored a picture.  When the music stopped, they would raise their hand. The students would pass their crayon to the friend on their right. 

This activity was a fun way to reinforce adding color to their drawings 

and adding more detail to their picture!  

They all did a great job and had some cute, colorful pictures!

Walking Water Experiement

We have been having so much fun with science!

The Walking Water experiment is super easy to set up and has a big 

WOW FACTOR for the students!  

The excitement goes on during the day as the students watch the water walk from one cup to another. 

My students thought I was soooo cool 

because I could make water walk!

Sentence Building

Help kids practice building sentences by MAKING IT FUN!

We recently got Smartboards in our classroom.
I know...right!?!
They have this "Infinite Cloner" button and
I will be using it A LOT!

The students had to work together to build a sentence 
for their friends to read. 

We discussed the importance of
"reading the sentence back to yourself!"

I saw this idea about 5 years ago at a conference.
The students LOOOVE it!

This is a GREAT video to share with the students  about writing a sentence.   Anytime that you add a "SONG"...I believe,  you will increase their excitement to learn!
