We believe that integrating thematic units into your day is most effective for kinder kids. It makes learning and teaching a lot of fun for teachers and students!
The next group of pictures are the thematic centers that we will be using in our classroom this school year. We use this format for Fall, Winter, & Spring. In our classrooms...we create centers for 2 weeks. Yes...sometimes we have a hard time choosing which theme to use because there are so many fun & educational units on the web...but we try to choose what is most interesting to our students. In our classrooms, we also have a reading and math curriculum to follow during each school day. We use the thematic centers to reinforce concepts we are already teaching in the classroom!

ReplyDeleteMy class loved our unit on United States symbols. They are still talking about it, even though we did the unit in September and October. It's so fun to see them recognize US symbols and important historical figures as we do other things during the year.

I LOVE doing a garden unit in the spring! We are lucky to have a garden at our school, and it's an awesome way to do an inquiry unit on what plants need to survive. woods.courtney at gmail.com

ReplyDeleteThese resources look AMAZING!!! They would take me right into the end of the school year. Would love them:-) While I'm hoping that the days of cold and snow are behind us, I love to teach winter themes, such as The Snowy Day, Jan Brett books like The Hat, The Mitten, Gingerbread Baby & Friends. The list goes on for winter themed books. But right now I'm dreaming about spring and summer!! Thanks for this opportunity! rrosario620@optonline.net
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to choose one favorite, but I guess I would choose either our unit on penguins or our zoo animal unit.
ReplyDeleteI love teaching about animals. The students are so motivated and engaged. They love to talk about the animals they have and new animals that they are interested in. They learn so many facts about animals and are able to share what they've learned with others.

ReplyDeleteThere are so many units that are fun to teach, but I really enjoyed penguins because the kiddos had a lot of fun with penguins!
