Happy Birthday Book

You say it's your birthday... we'll it's my birthday, too!  YEAH!  WOW!  I cannot wait until 200 hundred followers.  We are so close that I am going to post my special birthday book today to celebrate.

On the day that we celebrate a student's birthday, we make a special birthday book for the student to take home.  While the students work on drawing/coloring the birthday page, the bithday student will color the cover of his/her birthday book.  I have to give a shout out to my FaBuLouS cooperating teacher, Mrs. Taylor @ Elk Mound Elementary, for giving me this great idea!

My little monster is turning 3 in September!  I say "little monster" because that is going to be his birthday theme this year.  Isn't he just the cutest thing you ever seen!?!
Before we start the book, I tell the students to think about if they were in Target and could pick any toy off the shelf for the birhtday student, what would it be?  Reminding them that they are NOT REALLY going to buy the gift, just any gift they would like to put in the birthday student's book that he/she would really like.

I make sure to tell the students to try to keep it a secret from the birthday student what they are drawing for him/her  Also...try to think of something unique and different from the other students.  I am pretty sure that Kelsea does not want 20 lipsticks for her birthday.

For the cover that the birthday student is color I copy it on 11*17 sheet of paper.  When everyone is finished with the birthday page I put them all into the birthday student's cover and staple it together like a book.

Most of the mom's say this is a keeper!  I remind the students to do their best work and make it colorful!

You would think after having my blog for a year and almost 200 followers, I would know how to post printables on my blog.  SORRY!  You will have to go to my teacher website and find the printables.  I will post them on the first page to make it easy!  http://www.luv2teachk.shutterfly.com/
